Lipase

Overview

The Lipase, Serum test measures the concentration of lipase, an enzyme primarily produced by the pancreas that helps digest dietary fats. Under normal conditions, only small amounts of lipase are present in the bloodstream. When the pancreas becomes inflamed or damaged, lipase levels rise significantly.
